Explore the American indie cinema movement through improv
Led by film critic & improviser Tara Judah and film-enjoyer & improviser Chris Mead - and in association with Hoopla Impro - the Improv Cinema Club: American Indie Edition is an online improv class with a difference. Over the 7 weeks of the course we'll be covering the history of American independent cinema* through watching movies, discussing them and improvising around their themes. Using all the creative tools we have available to us as improvisers, we hope we can come to a deeper understanding of this beautiful and subversive cinematic movement.
*We are using the term American independent cinema as that is how it is termed academically. In practical terms, though, all the films we'll be discussing originate in the United States.
